What Happens During an Electrical Inspection?
- Tightening Terminals: HVAC units vibrate constantly. Over months of operation, these vibrations can loosen electrical screws. Loose wires lead to high resistance, which melts components.
- Capacitor Testing: The capacitor acts like a heavy-duty battery that “jump-starts” your motor. Capacitors have a limited lifespan; testing their microfarads ($\mu F$) allows a technician to replace a failing one before it leaves you stranded on a 100°F day.
- Amperage Monitoring: By measuring the “Amp Draw” of the blower and compressor, technicians can tell if a motor is working too hard due to friction or electrical wear, allowing for proactive repairs.
